News from Andra at Sow’s Ear Piggery:
Sow’s Ear Piggery is eagerly awaiting a call from our butcher when our latest pork order is ready. Due to an increase in clientele, we are currently sold out of most of our products. We hope to be restocked by next week’s market. At the very least, we will be offering a special batch of a few cured, smoked bacon slabs next week (currently curing!). Hope to be back on the market soon!
News from Wayne Diller at Nature’s Wealth:
We are offering a limited number of our pasture raised turkeys supplemented with non-GMO feed for Thanksgiving and Christmas! Purchasing the listed deposit will reserve your turkey. The turkeys will be between 15-20 pounds. The price per pound this year is $4.50. The deposit amount is subtracted from the final cost of the turkey. The day you pay your deposit at the market you will receive a receipt.
Note: your turkey is only reserved after the deposit is paid. Your deposit will be subtracted from final price due at pickup. Please specify Thanksgiving or Christmas delivery.
News from Linda at Dogwood Valley Greenhouse:
I’m currently taking orders for Christmas wreaths and kissing balls. If you’ve never had one of these fresh-from-the-farm Christmas decorations, why don’t you treat yourself this year? Place your order and pay now, and specify when you would like to receive your special decoration, anytime after December 1. I suggest using your decoration outdoors for maximum lifespan. If you want to place it indoors, you might consider requesting delivery in mid-December for freshness at holiday time. Order soon; supplies are limited.
Thanksgiving, of course, falls on our normal pickup day. The pickup day will be on Wednesday, November 27. In order to allow some time for packing, baking, etc, ordering will close in the morning on Tuesday, November 26. Please place your order Sunday or Monday so you don’t miss ordering. This week’s market will be held as normal.

MISC MARKET NOTES
Rethinking Thanksgiving
When it comes to gratitude there’s nothing to rethink. A thankful attitude has been proven to be mentally, spiritually and even physically beneficial. Over time our southern cultural expression of this has involved turkey, dressing, cranberry sauce, and pumpkin pie followed by football.
Hopefully everyone has wonderful memories of family gatherings with all the traditional things, but it’s also ok to have and create new and different equally wonderful traditions. What follows is a list, without names in case anyone wants to drop in, of brilliant and beautiful traditions. Our hope is that if you need to do something different or are just happy not to be the only Thanksgiving weirdo, this will be a blessing. However you choose to spend the holiday, we wish you great gratitude and great joy.
Many thank you’s to everyone who remembered our changed pickup and delivery times. Pickup last Friday went so smooth and it was wonderful to see everyone. We really do have the absolute BEST customers in the Wiregrass.
